Research tells us that we’re not good estimators of our own or others’ intelligence. So instead of asking people to self-report emotional intelligence resulting in potentially inaccurate scores, the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (or MSCEIT) assesses actual emotional intelligence abilities. Developed by the originators of the theory of emotional intelligence, the MSCEIT is the only published ability measure of emotional intelligence.

As an accredited MSCEIT practitioner, you will be able to administer the MSCEIT and provide written and verbal feedback on the assessment.

Dr. Susan David a global leader in the field, offers MSCEIT Certification programs in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, as well as other locations by request. The 3-day workshop provides detailed coverage of the Mayer-Salovey model of emotional intelligence and the MSCEIT. Both can be used in a range of settings, including performance enhancement through coaching, training programs, counseling interventions, and recruitment and selection.

On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being outstanding, participants’ average rating of their experience in the MSCEIT Certification Program is 9.7.

Susan’s sheer enthusiasm, passion and depth of knowledge across the broad spectrum of the psychology, EI, IQ, and personality areas was mind-boggling.
— Denise Mannix; Global Director of Organizational Development and HR, Weatherford International
Susan delivered the best training course I have ever attended (I am a trainer!). Her ability to get the message across and hold a group’s attention for three days has to be experienced to be believed.
— Margaret Burnside, Director of People Development at Eras Ltd.

Who will be teaching the course?

Dr. Susan David is a world leader in the theory and application of the MSCEIT. She completed her Ph.D. on emotional intelligence, her post-doctorate at Yale University with Peter Salovey, and was trained in the tool’s use by its originators (Drs. Jack Mayer, Peter Salovey, and David Caruso). Susan is one of the most experienced practitioners of the tool, having introduced it to the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, and providing feedback, coaching and training with it to many thousands of individuals. She has also developed a number of MSCEIT related products that are available exclusively through EBP.

How long is the MSCEIT Certification Program?

MSCEIT workshops run for three days from approximately 9 AM to 5 PM.

What kind of content is covered during the certification program?

Dr. Susan David facilitates information on the Mayer-Salovey Model of Emotional Intelligence, including the background of the theory of emotional intelligence and the application of emotional intelligence in coaching, counseling, and training settings. Participants learn about the MSCEIT assessment, including its development, reliability and validity, administration and interpretation, ethical test practices and methods for providing feedback.

The certification is content rich – participants leave with a robust and credible knowledge of the tool and how to use it, highly pragmatic, and fun!

A certification exam will be administered and an individual debriefing session will be provided after the workshop.

Who would be with me on the course?

Participants range from sole practitioner trainers, coaches and psychologists to senior level executives of global enterprises.  We have certified hundreds of people representing nearly every industry drawing from a wide range of business roles.

How will I benefit from taking the MSCEIT course?

Participants benefit both personally (in gaining an understanding of their own EI capabilities) as well as professionally for use within a variety of business settings, including:  performance enhancement through coaching, leadership and interpersonal training programs, career development interventions, counseling interventions, recruitment, and selection.
